PRESS RELEASE – An innovative healthcare programme that seeks to inculcate good hygiene and healthy lifestyle habits in the nation’s children is set to launch here this month, coinciding with the new school term.
The programme dubbed State of Health has been conceptualized by Axcel Finance, the leading microfinance company in the Eastern Caribbean.
State of Health is an early-childhood health programme designed to educate and develop increased awareness of healthy lifestyle practices among children in the 10-19 age group.
The project will offer children across the island creative educational programmes and preventative testing.
Louise Victor, Assistant Marketing Manager of Axcel said: “Against the backdrop of rising illnesses and non-communicable diseases such as childhood obesity, we believe this is an opportune time to contribute a form of corrective and preventative solution to this rising problem in Saint Lucia and the Caribbean.”
Through State of Health, Axcel hopes to educate children and adults alike on the link between health and financial well-being as it cost more to treat lifestyle diseases than it does to prevent them.
The official launch of State of Health is scheduled for Tuesday September 2nd 2014, at the Castries Health Centre on Chaussee Road at 9:00 AM.
