Axcel Finance is partnering with the Ministry of Education, Human Resource and Development Department to set up a Career Preparation Workshop on July 10 targeting secondary and tertiary level students.
At the workshop, a number of experts will speak on topics which range from understanding the job market, CV preparation and sharpening job interview skills. A press release states that career counselors will also be present to meet with young persons and provide guidance on career choices and paths.
“We are very concerned about the high rate of youth unemployment in Saint Lucia and this is our way of trying to inspire and motivate Saint Lucian youth to make good career choices and pursue their chosen careers,” Axcel Finance’s Business Development Manager, Dave Charles said.
Among the professionals to address the youngsters are Thecla Deterville, a former HR manager and director of Courts (Saint Lucia) and current manager of Celestial Self Development Centre, and Beverly Dulcie, SLASPA’s human resources manager.
The workshop will be held under the theme “Determination, Initiative and Persistence… Foundation for Success” and will take place at the National Cultural Centre.
“It’s time to tackle the vexing issue of youth unemployment in Saint Lucia which currently stands at close to 20 per cent,” the company said in the release.
