St. Jude’s Hospital was the recipient of some much needed medical supplies this week in the form of nebulizers and digital thermometers for its pediatric department.
The donation was made on Tuesday by Axcel Finance, a newly established micro-finance institution which provides loans to small businesses and gainfully employed consumers.
Head of Operations in the OECS Olaf Fontinelle said since its establishment here in February, the company has been involved in a number of community projects, including the school feeding programme at the Marchand Combined School.
The St. Jude’s donation, he said, seemed a natural progression for the company, which is now expanding its services to the south of the island.
Head of the Pediatrics and Assistant Medical Director Dr. Sybil Naitram confirmed that the need for the items was so dire that they were put into use immediately after receipt.
Axcel Finance meanwhile has pledged its continued support and partnership to the hospital and has agreed to partner with the Ministry of Education to undertake more school feeding programmes.
