Ms. Margaret Gabriel, Principal of the Gordon & Walcott Memorial Methodist School thanked Axcel for this wonderful gesture which she described as “a symbol of appreciation for the tireless work we do as teachers in nurturing the young minds in our care.
On a daily basis, teachers play the role of counsellor, mentor and comforter. So it’s nice to feel appreciated for what we do.”
In her brief remarks, Country Manager, Hermina Danzie-Vitalis said: “Axcel is proud to continue its support for education in Saint Lucia. Teachers have a tremendous responsibility to shape the next generation and we too are investing in the next generation to ensure a better country and by extension, a better economy.
In recent times, Axcel Finance, the leading regional microfinance institution has undertaken several initiatives which positively impact young persons and their education.
These include a Pre-Kindergarten After School Programme, the Axcel Mentorship programme, an Internship Programme, a Career Preparation Workshop for secondary and tertiary level students, and State of Health – an innovative programme designed to educate and develop increased awareness of healthy lifestyle practices among children and adolescents in the 10 – 19 age-group.
It includes free testing to ensure early detection and prevention of some irreversible diseases among the targeted age group.
