Attempted suicide report in Gros Islet

Police and social services are investigating an attempted suicide incident involving a teenager in the north of the island.

Reports are that a 15-year-old female from Beausejour, Gros Islet attempted to commit suicide about 3:30 am today.

The teen was found hanging by her parents who were reportedly clueless initially about the reason behind their daughter’s action.

It is alleged that the daughter was not immediately cooperative in the matter. Her condition is not serious, according to reports.

Our news team is unable to say whether the teen has been charged or will be charged for the criminal offence of attempted suicide.

Due to the age of the victim and the sensitivity of the case, no further details are being made available by the authorities.

    • Idiot ! the Government cannot be blamed for EVERYTHING ! the level of ignorance of the color focused party faithfuls in the country are amazing. All you see is RED or Yellow. there are bigger problems in our society and neither RED or Yellow can be blamed nor can either color solve ALL problems.

  3. This is a fast paced world and many St. Lucians are not aware. The others live in denial. For the most part are we aware of the issues faced by our youth nowadays? I don't think so because for too long the NYC has acted as bystander & political playgroung among other things. They should focus in bringing youth issues to the fore instead of pleasing politicians and enabling youth leaders wanabe politicians. The time is now for reform. LETS FIX THIS!!

In this world are parents e.g. fully aware of the potential of cellphones and internet. By giving a child a cellphone parents say "I can now reach my child." Think again, this time think of the millions of others who can now reach her/him. There are many evils on that steam including child pornograpy rings, cults, suicide packs etc. You heard right parents, SUICIDE PACKS. Check your children to see what they are up to.

  5. Why would they even think of charging the child?.Wouldn't a charge lead to another attempt?.Its her life, she could do as she pleases.

  9. Why would they think about charging her when she's only 15?? This is a minor and charging her would not help...she needs professional counseling.

  12. The teenagers years are quite s trying time for most young people especially those who don't have this open communication with the parents. They are in a lost zone in which they are confused. On one hand we are yelling them to act mature and on the other hand we telling them they are children. Parents also are confused we want the perfect child, we are afraid of what society will say so we hammer at the kids, telling them what we expect and not leaving room for open communication, so what do they do they do thing under cover, they sought the advise of friends. It is difficult being a teenager these days, but it is equally difficult being s patent. We as parents need to listen to our children, be their friends bit don't give us our roles as patents.

Lets pray for this child and her patents and I fo hope that they receive some professional help.
