Local educators are this week benefiting from a series of workshops on English B, also known as literature.
Singer/songwriter Claudia Edward, through her charity, has enlisted a Florida-based director of theatre to help with the teaching of Shakespeare and other such theatrical writings.
The intention is to help teachers make the work of William Shakespeare more attractive to students, and so far the participants are responding well, according to director of theatre programs and instructor of English and reading, Julia Perlowski of Florida.
Edward 4 Education conducted its first charity event for the Corinth Secondary School on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the St. Lucia Golf & Country Club. The secondary school was the very first recipient of the foundation’s efforts with a sickbay being built from fund-raising activities and the assistance of local business communities.
The plan is to continue providing support to as many schools as possible on the island. Every year, a school is handpicked by the foundation together with the Ministry of Education, the needs are assessed and the planning begins to improve the school environment.
