(RNV) – The sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) against officials of the Venezuelan State represent aggressions against the country’s Public Authorities, said the Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, during a press conference, in the framework of the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the China-Celac Forum from Santiago, Chile.
“It is regrettable that the European Union has issued a series of restrictive measures against Venezuelan citizens, officials and officials, but also Presidents of the Public Powers, that is, against Venezuela, against its democratic institutions”, he said.
The holder of the Foreign Relations Office regretted that “Europe subordinates to the imperial policy of the United States”, which intend to attack Venezuela with these measures that violate international law.
He noted that the arguments presented to impose the sanctions are not to promote dialogue with the opposition, a process in which the Bolivarian Government has insisted on more than 400 times, but they seek to weaken the revolutionary process.
He also called for reflection so that they respect the independence and sovereignty of Venezuela and its institutions.
Arreza highlighted the progress of bilateral relations between China and Venezuela in recent years: “China and Venezuela maintain a harmonious relationship, respect for their sovereignty, solidarity and cooperation for shared development”, he said.
For his part, he highlighted the visionary thinking of the Eternal Commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, who strengthened relations between the two countries since 2004.
“In 2004, Commander Chávez pointed out that the axis of the world was moving towards Beijing. From the CELAC we must strengthen South-South cooperation and the integration of our peoples and advance in the construction of a pluri-polar world”, he said.
