Appraisal mission for Choc Highway

Appraisal mission for Choc Highway

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) are currently in Saint Lucia conducting a joint appraisal mission for the financing of Phase2 of the Choc to Gros Islet Junction Highway.

This project was announced by the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, in the 2014/2015 Budget. The project will be jointly financed by the Kuwaiti Fund and the OPEC Fund.

The project involves extension of the major highway to accommodate two northbound and two southbound lanes, pedestrian walkovers and rehabilitation of major junctions.

The joint Kuwait/OFID fund team will be in Saint Lucia over the period October 26-November 5, 2014. During that period they will be conducting meetings with the technical Staff of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs and Social Security and other relevant agencies.

  1. Just like the redevelopment of Port Castries; this project will never get off the ground.
We are still waiting for work on the Port to begin.

  2. Great! Will be especially nice for that choc hill climb where everyone tries to rush and poke a nose. Saw a few vids featuring road network over in Martinique and was really envious of it.
