Anti-doping Education Campaign to resume

The UNESCO-funded Anti-doping Education Campaign, spearheaded by the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee will resume this Saturday August 24.

This third cycle of seminars and workshops will take place at the Camille Henry Memorial School at L’Anse Road.

The campaign, which is expected to last some six months, commenced in June 2013 and has seen two rounds of seminars and workshops completed to date.

The seminar will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is open to athletes of all ages. Dr Kenneth Louisy will be the lead presenter alongside certified doping control officers. The programme for Saturday’s session will see participants taking a pre-test on anti-doping issues followed by a brief talk on the history of doping in Saint Lucia.

Topics to be covered include Legal Implications of Doping, What is Doping, The Prohibited List and information that is required concerning the whereabouts of athletes.

Following the completion of the seminar, participants are expected to return on Saturday August 31, 2013 to participate in a hands-on workshop involving Doping.
