Annual luncheon for elderly in Gros Islet town

The Club 60 of Gros-Islet will be hosting its annual luncheon for the elderly, shut-ins and disabled of the Gros Islet town and environs.

The event will be held on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Duke’s Fish Pot, Bay Street in Gros Islet (near the waterfront).

The aim of this event is to give our seniors an opportunity to socialize with each other considering they spend most of their time in the confines of their homes. It also gives them the opportunity to participation in the spirit of our 34th Independent anniversary celebrations.

This luncheon will be preceded by a church service at 10 am at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Gros Islet on the same day.

The organization has been in existence for the past 13 years and has been instrumental in various activities in the community focusing on the elderly and shut-ins including luncheons, visits, delivering hampers etc.

This year they work in collaboration with the District Representative Hon. Emma Hippolyta who is a sponsor and also The Grow Well Committee of Gros Islet who will be delivering hampers to those persons.
