PRESS RELEASE – The Consulate General of Saint Lucia in New York, in collaboration with the New York City-based Saint Lucia House Foundation, has announced its month-long calendar of events marking the country’s thirty-eighth year of independence.
This year’s observances will kick off with the annual Independence Gospel Festival. This joyful musical celebration will take place on Saturday, February 4, from 7:00 PM, at Advent Fellowship Church of Brooklyn, 1666 Bergen Street, and will feature a host of Saint Lucian gospel entertainers, church choirs, praise dancers, and other inspirational performers.
There will also be an exciting new addition to the Independence 38 schedule, a marketplace designed to give Saint Lucian entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to promote their businesses. More importantly it will help them showcase and sell their products and services. The market place will be at staged at the Saint Lucia House, located at 438 E 49 Street in Brooklyn, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, commencing at 6:00 PM.
The consulate will also host a Young Saint Lucian Professionals Mixer, scheduled for Thursday February 16, starting at 7:00 PM, at the Saint Lucian-owned Suede Restaurant, located at 5610 Clarendon Road, Brooklyn. Now in its second year, this initiative is intended to support the aspirations of young Saint Lucian professionals, and foster the careers of the country’s future business leaders.
The highlight of this year’s calendar is the annual Independence Gala slated for Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 7:00 PM on, at the elegant Woodhaven Manor, located at 96-01 Jamaica Avenue, in Woodhaven, Queens.
All Saint Lucian nationals in the tri-state area, their friends, and the general public are invited to join this special celebration of the island nation’s rich cultural heritage.
