PRESS RELEASE – The 131st Annual General Meeting of The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is scheduled for Wednesday 25th November at the Bay Garden’s Hotel, Rodney Bay, from 9:00 a.m.
At that AGM, Dr. Hilaire will speak on the newly introduced Citizenship by Investment Program which the Government launched in Morocco recently, preceded by the enactment of the Citizenship by Investment Act in September, 2015.
The Members of the Chamber were not privy to the CIP Bill or its regulations prior to the enactment and are anxious to be provided with the insights into how they can beneficially participate in the Programme. Government has espoused the view that the CIP is a major plank of its strategy to attract Foreign Direct Investment and the Business Community is hoping that the program will redound to their benefit in the more immediate term.
Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny D Anthony and a number of other dignitaries have already confirmed their attendance at this important meeting. Chamber members and specially invited guests are expected to attend in large numbers. This Annual General Meeting will see a new President being elected to lead the Chamber as current President Mr. Gordon Charles has indicated that he will not be seeking reelection, having served the traditional two consecutive terms as President.
