(PRESS RELEASE) – In the interest of safeguarding our community throughout the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, New York City-based Project Education has made the difficult decision to cancel its popular “Annual Breakfast for Education,” originally scheduled to take place on July 5, 2020, in Brooklyn, New York.
“As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause havoc around the world, it has become clear that in the face of this unprecedented situation, Project Education had to make a tough decision,” said Jeremiah Hyacinth, Project Education’s founder. “We recognize the magnitude of this decision, but the health and safety our patrons, supporters, and their families are our highest priority.”
The annual Breakfast for Education, which debuted in 2011, raises funds for Project Education’s Backpack Program. Since its inception, this initiative has donated scores of backpacks filled with school supplies to underprivileged children in Saint Lucia.
However, in order to continue the important service that the monies raised by this event provides, Project Education will hold a virtual fundraiser in its place and has designated June as “Project Education Month of Giving.”
Contributions to this worthwhile effort can be made via GoFundMe
Information about the virtual fundraiser can be obtained by contacting Project Education directly, at [email protected], or at 347.528.2210.
