Amy Winehouse Foundation donates $91,000 towards music education program

The Boys Training Centre and Dunnottar School will benefit from a music education program funded by the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation is aimed at supporting the personal development of disadvantaged young people through music.

Project Coordinator of the Music Program in Saint Lucia, Sue Sandle, said the music program will help students to develop additional skills.

“What we are intending to do is to use music and singing as the basis for developing a lot more skills in our children and young people,” she said. “Dunnottar students have already had the experience, and they will be sharing their experience with the Boys Training Centre.”

Janis Winehouse-Collins, mother of Amy Winehouse, said she always wanted to give back to Saint Lucia.

“Since the Amy Winehouse Foundation began, my family and I have wanted to support projects in Saint Lucia that so that we can thank the place that gave her so much,” Collins said. “The Foundation was set up three years ago, shortly after Amy passed, by myself and family. We work to prevent the effects of drugs and alcohol misuse among young people.”

The Amy Winehouse Foundation donated EC $91, 000 for the music educational program in Saint Lucia. Collins said she hopes the project will make a positive difference in Saint Lucia.

  1. Please educate me if I'm wrong? Since when has the boys training center been for disadvantaged youth. I thought it was for juvenile delinquents. Nonetheless, our nation should be extremely grateful at the generosity of the Amy Winehouse foundation. I do hope that the plans and division of those funds will be made public.
