Allen Chastanet to be sworn-in as Prime Minister today

Political Leader of the United Workers Party (UWP), Allen Chastanet, will be officially sworn in as Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, succeeding Dr. Kenny Anthony. 

The swearing in ceremony of the country’s new Prime Minister will be broadcast live on the National Television Network and online via the Government of Saint Lucia website at 2 p.m. today Tuesday, June 7, 2016.

Chastanet’s party won the June 6, 2016 general election, after claiming 11 of the 17 constituency seats.

The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) only managed to win six constituency seats.

Chastanet is a former tourism minister and senator.

    • That's what I cannot understand of SLP supporters. THe people have spoken therefore you do not respect the will of the electorate and that is why your party is in the position it is currently in. We do not need your luck mister, if you are a St Lucian and want to see the country move forward bury your pride and jump aboard the train or be left behind in ignorance.

  14. Congratulations to you Ti-Chast. Now after your swearing ceremony the clock starts immediately. Anything that happens between now and the next five years will be on your watch. Take a good look at the job description and objectives give to you by the St.Lucian people. We expect nothing less but what your manifesto promised.
