AF Valmont and Renwick seek trade union representation

Clerical, sales agents and attendants employed with A. F. Valmont & Company Ltd and Renwick & Company Ltd have sought trade union representation through the National Workers Union.

As a result, the National Workers Union (NWU) has submitted a recognition claim to the Ministry of Labour on behalf of employees employed with both companies.

This initiative on the part of the workers is in keeping with the Labour Act No. 37 of 2006 Section 357, and the NWU is hoping that these will be expeditiously resolved.

Meanwhile the NWU has concluded negotiations with Sentinel Security Company Ltd., bringing the number of security companies which the NWU is dealing with to three.

  1. people are still ignorant, union helps put stability in a working environment in satisfying staff and management. They also help in the effectively functioning of the organization to reach their productive goals.May you should look at companies that have staff grievance, how they are functionally also poor in service and latter profit fall and then they close down. Really it is important that organisation recognize the importance of human resource and treat worker fairly and good returns will come to you. how do you expect to treat people like dirt and expect to be profitable and remain in business, there is justice for the week and valnerable

  3. Such foolishness. How exactly will union representation cause the businesses to collapse? Please get your facts straight before you comment. Union representations is always in the worker's (Like YOU and I) best interest.
