Saint Lucians are in for the treat of a lifetime when the islands number one long distance swimmer Embert Chouloutte takes to the water on the morning of Independence Day to promote cancer awareness.
Chouloutte, who hails from Gros Islet, has already set two records. However, on the morning of Friday, February 22, 2013, he will again attempt to set a record, this time swimming the four miles from the Gros Islet waterfront to Vigie Beach.
This grand event, which is slated to begin at 10 a.m., will allow the Gros Islet native to thrill his adoring fans.
The public is asked to come out in record numbers to support this very worthy cause and to make this Independence celebration one to remember in the fight against cancer.
