(PRESS RELEASE) — On Friday, March 1, 2019, Saint Lucia’s Teddyson John (TJ) made history!
TJ became the first from his homeland to secure a top spot in the finals of the International Soca Monarch (Groovy) otherwise known as ‘Fantastic Friday’, with his power track ‘Vent’.
Since his entry into the International Soca Monarch (ISM) arena in 2016 with ‘Allez’, Teddyson has been consistent in delivering solid performances, more so, distinct with extraordinary vocals.
March 1 proved no different as TJ finished second at the competition after having topped the ISM semi-final round.
An emotional and grateful TJ, who has returned to St. Lucia from Trinidad, said: “Words can’t entirely put into context the high of emotion that has consumed me the past few days. This has been a long time coming, despite having not placed in previous years. That did not deter me. This second place feels like the number one spot in so many ways for me, for my team, and I hope it’s the same feeling for the entire country. In the spirit of celebrating 2019 as our 40th year of Independence, this is my personal gift to my dear St. Lucia.”
As TJ and his team get ready for U4RIA 7, as well as the release for new music for St. Lucia Carnival 2019, he extends immense gratitude to well-wishers, fans, competition organizers and his family.
TJ is also extremely grateful to his management and production team, Darwin Guard, Dahlia Guard, and Gelani Paul.
TJ thanks the government of Saint Lucia, and by extension his country, for the continued uplifting and support throughout his journey .
