Two-day agricultural workshop held to strengthen marketing systems


PRESS RELEASE –
Representatives from the Saint Lucia Fish Marketing Corporation, the Saint Lucia Marketing Board and the Fond Assau Agro-Processing Facility met with consultants of the Food and Agricultural Organisation the FAO, for a two day consultation dubbed, “Strengthening Value-Chains through strong Agri-business and Smart Partnerships”.

The Objective of the workshop was to develop sustainable plans for the three institutions to strengthen their marketing systems to help them become profitable enterprises.

The workshop targeted each entity, studying and analysing their present situation after which strategies were developed that will help each organisation become viable.

The Saint Lucia Fish Marketing Corporation, the Saint Lucia Marketing Board and the Fond Assau Agro-Processing Facility are three institutions owned and operated by the Government of Saint Lucia aimed at providing marketing outlets to agri-entrepreneurs and fishers to sell their produce.

The two day workshop began on November 19 and continued on the 20th and was held at the conference room of the Orchid gardens in Union.

    keep saying buy local..everybody wants to make a quick dollar SO LOCALS selling at all market are sky high..

    • Anywhere you go in the world local food is always and always more expensive it is better and it is real food.I am living in one of the metropolitan country and the local is fresh no pesticide or little pesticide compared to the ones from Mexico Peru where there is DDT in the produce. And of course dont forget how long it takes to get to the destination.
