(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – Despite a less than stellar attendance, and thanks to the perfect weather conditions, the 2018 Independence 3×3 tournament concluded on Sunday March 4th at the Vigie Multipurpose Sports Complex.

9 teams battled it out in both men and women’s categories for the right to be called the 2018 3×3 champions.

In the women’s pool, Lady Jets (Kayarna Louison, Janice Hector, Melissa Demille, Carlyn Williams) captured the championship with a hard fought 8-7 win over The A-team with youth basketball standouts (Mia George, Jermiah Evarist, Kameka President, Siana Jameson).

In the Men’s pool Savage Storm(Keegan Preville, Andre Louison, Marlon Samuel Shamoir Jn Baptiste) embarked on an undefeated 7 game run, while averaging 18.8 ppg to emerge victorious in the final, defeating Migos 19-11. Team Savage Storms success was no fluke, as all the players on this team comprise of players currently enrolled in the National team preparations ahead of the Americup 2021 qualifiers to be held in Suriname this June.

Migos (Pakel Gumbs Anthony Pologne, Simeon Hippolyte, Yohan Fevrier) defeated 767/758 connection (Dante Peter, Ali Shillingford, Dunstan Peters, Ryan Philogene) 19-11 in the first semifinal matchup.

Champions Savage Storm steamrolled Bandit Bandit Ballers (Nicholas Toussaint, Cheic Alphonse, Keon Embreck, Khalil Weeks) with a 19-1 thrashing in their semi-final.
