2015 Veterans football preliminary rounds completed

sportsnewsPRESS RELEASE – The preliminary round matches in the 2015 Veterans Football Tournament came to an end last evening at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.

After the weekend’s matches the top eight qualifiers for the Caribbean Alliance Gold cup were determined while the other eight teams who will contest the Lime plate championship were also confirmed.

In matches played Saturday evening. Anse La Raye and Behind The College All Stars played to an exciting two all draw.

Marlon Desir with two goals in the 42nd and 80th minute converted for Behind The College All Stars, while Fabian Montoute in the 39th minute and Morgan Mitchel in the 65th minute, were the goal scorers for Anse La Raye.

Vieux Fort South edged out Caricom Masters one goal to nil a goal scored by Eddie Jn Charles in the 45th minute. A friendly encounter was played between Nyah and Central Vieux Fort which ended one all.

There was more drama last evening as three more matches were played.

In the opening encounter a seven goal thriller, Prophets and Kings registered their first win in five years of participating in the Veterans Tournament when they had an exciting four goals to three win over Laborie Veterans. For Prophets and Kings the goal scorers were Peter Jn Pierre who scored two goals and their was a goal each to Clifford “baba” Sandiford and Simeon Phillip.

The second match last evening saw Dennery All Blacks and Congorians playing to an exciting goal less draw while in the final match of the evening home team Soufriere had a four goals to nil win over Micoud.

The goal scorers for Soufriere were Dabreo Henry in the 60th minute , Jerome “barboy” Serville in the 77th and 86th minute and Daniel Ramjewaean in the 88th minute.
