PRESS RELEASE – The St. Lucia Football Association held a Press Conference on Tuesday 27th October to inform the Media and the Clubs of the President’s Cup Tournament which starts on Wednesday 28th October.
The General Secretary Mr. Victor Reid welcome all the Media and Club representatives and indicated that three Technical Meetings were held with the participating Clubs and Referees have already been organized for the games.
The Executive Assistant of the SLFA gave an overview of the Tournament indicating that the Competition will be held in Four Zones namely the Northern Zone, Southern Zone, Eastern Zone and Western Zone and each Zone will be divided into two groups.
The President of the SLFA Mr. Lyndon Cooper also addressed the Media and Clubs indicating that the concept was to create a 1st Division Tournament and also to provide a Club Licensing Programme re the finalization of 31 Clubs into the FIFA System.
The President indicated that the 1st prize for the Tournament will be $10,000.00, 2nd prize $5,000.00 and 3rd prize $3,000.00. The President is also encouraging District Leagues to host Female Football Tournaments to encourage more Females to get involve in Football.
The President’s Cup Tournament will start on Wednesday 27th October with games in the following Zones:
Northern Zone – at the Marchand Playing Field
-Des Barras vs Nyah – 5.00 p.m.
-Super J Northern United vs Flames FC – 7.00 p.m.
Eastern Zone – at the Dennery Playing Field
-Rovers vs Praslin – 4.00 p.m
Western Zone – Anse La Ray Playing Field
-CT Foundation vs Ciceron – 5.00 p.m.
-All Stars vs Young Strikers – 7.00 p.m.
The Competition will continue on Thursday 28th October in the different Zones.
