PRESS RELEASE – The Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF)and title sponsor KFC is set to commence the Annual 2015 National Basketball League this coming Sunday April 12th with the Opening Ceremony at the Beausejour Indoor Facility at 5pm, followed by a double header starting at 6pm.
This year’s tournament will continue with the Division One and Premier League formats as with previous years.
A total of eight teams are participating in the Division One League namely: BBC, Police, Combined Schools, Courts Jets Co-Ed, Maranatha Eagles, Sandals High Risers, Lions and Fire Service. In the Premier League the participating teams are defending champions Courts Jets, newly promoted MicoudHustlerz, Canaries Moon River, VBCC Warlords, Soufriere Sulphur Stars and Morne Gladiators.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, Police will face BBC in the season opener for Division 1 action to be followed at 8pm with defending champions Courts Jets opening their season against Canaries Moon River. Both games will be played at the Beasejour Indoor Facility.
According to Neil Joseph, PRO of the St. Lucia Basketball Federation, “a delayed start to this year’s National League but as promised we’re now ready to go”.
Partnering with the SLBF for this year’s National League is title sponsor KFC, Bank of St. Lucia, LUCELEC, Advanced Intellectual Methods Inc, The Computer Store, Delirius Restaurant Bar and Deli, Exelsign, St. Lucia Olympic Committee, The Trophy Centre and the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.
The SLBF would like to remind all teams to be in attendance for the marchpast ceremony on Sunday at 5pm in team uniform or with their team’s banner.
A special invitation is extended to all media houses to the opening ceremony and opening season gameson Sunday April 12th, 2015. A small token fee of $5.00will be taken as a contribution to the tournament cost for entry to the games this Sunday.
The general public and all basketball enthusiasts are welcomed to come out to support the 2015 National Basketball League starting this Sunday and throughout its duration.
