(SNO) — The Southwest Baptist University Bearcats men’s track and field team wrapped up their regular season of the indoor season on Friday and Saturday.
Most of the team competed at Pittsburg State in the 4th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic. The meet was held at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Saint Lucian junior Delan Edwin ran the 60m dash and 200m dash, finishing 14th in the 60 and 13th in the 200. In the 60, Edwin ran a 6.98 time, and in the 200, he ran 21.88.
The latter mark was a new personal-best for Edwin, who is in his first indoor season. It is a massive PB, as he had previously only run 22.43 at the University of Central Missouri Invite in mid January.
For the 60, Edwin has gone as fast as 6.87 seconds. His performance at Pitt was, in fact, his slowest effort to date in that event. His best 60 time is third-fastest this season in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). He is the fourth-fastest 200m runner in the MIAA this year.
Edwin and the SBU Bearcats will compete in the MIAA Indoor Championships over Saint Lucia’s Independence weekend, before moving on to the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II Championships.
