TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK

CLOUDINESS ASSOCIATED WITH TROPICAL STORM ISAAC ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO AFFECT THE LESSER ANTILLES TODAY.

AT 11:00 AM TODAY, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 15.0 DEGREES NORTH, LONGITUDE 54.7 DEGREES WEST WHICH IS ABOUT 427 MILES OR 687 KILOMETERS NORTHEAST OF SAINT LUCIA. ISAAC IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST NEAR 15 MPH OR 24 KM/H AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. ON THIS FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF ISAAC IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE LESSER ANTILLES, NEAR DOMINICA ON THURSDAY AND CONTINUE INTO THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA BY THE WEEKEND.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 60 MPH OR 95 KM/H WITH HIGHER GUSTS. A GRADUAL WEAKENING IS EXPECTED IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED FOR SAINT LUCIA, HOWEVER RESIDENTS  ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

AT 11:00 AM TODAY, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE HELENE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 20.3 DEGREES NORTH, LONGITUDE 36.5 DEGREES WEST OVER THE EASTERN TROPICAL  ATLANTIC. THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN OVER THE OPEN ATLANTIC WATERS DURING ITS LIFE CYCLE AND POSE NO THREAT TO SAINT LUCIA AND THE REST OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.
