Saint Lucia qualifies for Pan Am Beach Volleyball

Saint Lucia’s senior Men’s National Beach Volleyball Team, Julian Bissette and Joseph Clercent, has qualified for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada.

In 2014, Saint Lucia playing relatively few North American, Central American and Caribbean (NORCECA) Tour Events, but Joe and Julian’s exploits in 2012 and 2013 were sufficient to ensure that they qualified for this prestigious event.

Beach volleyball was Saint Lucia’s first team sport to qualify for an international multi-sport competition, in 2010, making it to that year’s Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. In 2014, the men’s team placed sixth at the CAC Games.

Currently, Joe and Julian are playing professional volleyball in the Greece first division for Club MENT, where they are both now getting quite a bit of playing time, with Julian recently gaining a spot on the 2014 Greece All Star Team. He is the second-ranked attacker and blocker in the league.
