Police have confirmed that masked men have robbed two local schools.

The incidents reportedly took place in less than two weeks. Head of Security at the Sir Arthur Community College refuted claims of such an incident on the institution’s compound.

According to police officer, no official report was made by the college; however investigations of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)  reveal some students gambling in the school’s vicinity were robbed at gunpoint.

Within the same week, the Bocage Secondary School was broken into and several pieces of equipment were stolen.

Recounting the incident to a St. Lucia News Online reporter, Bocage’s School principal said she received a telephone call about 4:50 a.m. informing her about the burglary.

“I got to the school about quarter to six. When I came in I realise my office was wide open and the door was forced open and the lock was hanging,” she said.

She added that the vice principal’s office was also in a mess, and papers were all over the place.

According to her, the secretary’s computer was stolen, and equipment was also taken from the lab.

“They took three video cameras from the IT  lab,” she noted.

Each camera cost EC$2, 500, that school principal stated.

Two watchmen at the school were tied up by the perpetrators, who barred their faces with their shirts.

The principal said a report was made to the police. The police responded to the incident, and investigations continue into the matter.
