A Soufriere man has pleaded guilty to having sex with an 11-year-old girl.

Joel James, who was 22 years at the time, was known to the virtual complainant.

According to the facts relayed by Prosecutor Tina Mensah in court yesterday, the Virtual Complainant (VC) was at her mother’s home at Smith Street, Soufriere, on 11th August 2008, when the defendant came for some cold water.

While he helped himself, the VC went into her mother’s bedroom, where the defendant followed her.

The VC told him to go outside but instead the defendant pushed her on the bed and proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her.

The defendant committed the illegal act a second time  on 14th August 2008, during another visit to her mother’s home.

Justice Kenneth Benjamin ordered a pre-sentence report and reserved judgment until July 28th.

Meanwhile Joel James remains on remand at the Bordelaise Correctional Facility.
